Shiloh Liao

Shiloh's career started on the quantitative side of finance, first as a quantitative researcher at a multi-strategy hedge fund and later as a quantitative trader at a proprietary trading firm. In both roles, she built and ran systematic strategies where a flawed assumption shows up immediately in the P&L — there is no room for a story that only sounds good.

That discipline now shapes how she evaluates startups at Aventrix: she wants to see the model behind the pitch, the assumptions behind the model, and evidence the founder has actually stress-tested both. She focuses on fintech and edtech, sectors where trust and infrastructure compound over years, not quarters — and where the most durable companies are usually the least flashy ones.

Shiloh holds a BEng in Electrical Engineering from the National University of Singapore.
